Privacy Policy

We Respect Your Privacy

The privacy of our families, donors and volunteers is a top priority. We are committed to protecting the information you give and we do not share individual data (names, addresses, demographics) without your consent. We never sell or give our mailing lists to other organizations or individuals.

When you participate in a DSGO event, donate to the organization, sign up for the mailing list or request information about our services, DSGO will ask for your name, address, e-mail address and telephone number. We may also request some demographic information such as gender, age of the individual with Down syndrome, ethnicity and information about your family. The demographic information may be used in the aggregate for reporting or grant writing purposes. For example, we may tell a funder that 25% of our mailing list resides out of state and that the median age of individuals with Ds who attended our Step Up Walk was 12 years old. We do not release individual data for reporting or funding purposes. If you request information or help for a particular individual and give permission, we may share the individual data with a parent support volunteer or another agency that may offer appropriate services.

When visiting our website we automatically log your IP address, your browser type and your access times. We need this information to conduct site performance evaluations, to see where visitors are coming from and to keep track of the click stream data (the screens our users visit on our site). This helps us to determine what content our members find most appealing so that we can optimize your usage of the site. Like most websites, our site contains links to other websites. Please note that when you click on one of these links, you may be leaving the DSGO site and entering another website. These sites may independently collect or request information about you and we encourage you to read the privacy statement of these linked sites as their privacy policy may differ from ours.

From time to time we may send out email messages soliciting your support, prompting a call to action, or alerting you of DSGO events. In addition, you may receive communications from us if you have contacted us for information or services.

The DSGO seeks to support attendees with appropriate interpretation and translation services when given an adequate amount of time to contract providers.  DSGO requires notification of an interpretation need five business days prior to an event in order to provide services to attendees.

By participating in a DSGO event, donating to the organization, signing up for the mailing list or requesting information about our services and/or using our website, you consent to the collection and use of the information you provide to us as described above. If we make any material changes in our privacy policy or in how we use your personally identifiable information, we will post a prominent notice in DSGO’s newsletter and on our website prior to implementing the change.

If you prefer not to receive any information from us, please contact us at 417-885-9905 or write to us at Down Syndrome Group of the Ozarks, P O Box 1598, Springfield, MO 65801.  You may also notify us by email at
